Learn more about the award-winnging Monterey Bay
Aquarium web site
We participated in the launch of the new E-Quarium, Monterey Bay Aquarium's virtual home, providing strategic planning, branding, design, content development, and project management. In addition to the overall look and feel of the E-Quarium, we designed innovative features including an interactive kelp forest tour, a customized trip planning guide to the Aquarium and the Monterey Bay Sanctuary, ocean conservation games like "Is there seaweed in your house?" and the Living Species List, a "living" database of habitat and animal photographs, illustrations and cool facts. We pioneered engaging ways to deliver both interactive, science-based content and cutting edge e-commerce. The new E-Quarium provides online visitors with inspiring and educational experiences, encouraging them to join with the Monterey Bay Aquarium in conserving the world's oceans. Aquarium Executive Director Julie Packard said "We've designed the E-Quarium as a resource for learning about the oceans, and to help inspire conservation of the oceans around the globe. The E-Quarium reflects the aquarium's commitment to cutting-edge exhibits, scientific accuracy and educational innovations. It also incorporates the latest advances in web design and e-commerce." The website is an extension of Hewlett-Packard co-founder David Packard's legacy, who in 1978, founded what is widely acclaimed as the most innovative aquarium in the world. Since 1984, the Monterey Bay Aquarium has attracted more than 27 million visitors and has set attendance records among U.S. aquariums. It has pioneered living exhibits of jellies, open ocean animals and deep sea creatures. Aquarium education programs welcome more than 90,000 students and teachers each year.
